Hotel Alvear Montevideo, Montevideo

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's prime location, right above picturesque Barrio Sur and close to Ciudad Vieja and the beaches. The rooms were spacious and clean, although the view was lacking. The service was nice and helpful, but the staff seemed a bit uninformed about our booking. Despite the drawbacks, the hotel offers great value for money in the heart of Montevideo.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms, while not filthy, were smaller than expected with only two tiny twin beds, but they were equipped with a working air-conditioner, a mini-bar, and a clean modern bathroom. The service, unfortunately, was rude and unhelpful regarding tourist information, but there were some lovely and helpful staff members. The location was superb, right in the heart of Montevideo, making it easy to go anywhere. The dining experience was decent overall. The facilities were satisfactory, although there were some areas that fell short.
